Title
Letter dated September 16, 1969 from Mayor Harold P. Dyck to Revend Bob Baer and Invitation to Hesston United Methodist Church ground breaking service Sunday, September 21, 1969
Subject
mayor

churches
Description
In the letter, Mayor Dyck says he regrets that he will not be able to attend the ground breaking service for the Reverend Baer's new church building, which he is very interested in, but offers future support and cooperation. In a postscript, he also states that Milt Miller will attend to represent the city. Also included is the invitation to the Hesston United Methodist ground breaking service, to be held Sunday, Sept. 21, 1969 at 2:00 pm on the northeast corner of Ridge Road and Lincoln Boulevard where construction of the new church building was about to begin. At the bottom of the invitation, we find the handwritten note "Have fun, Harold". We assume that after composing the original letter, Mayor Dyck confirmed with Hesston's previous mayor, Milton Miller, that he would be able to attend the ceremony as a city representative. We believe Mayor Dyck then passed this copy of his letter to Miller, along with his invitation and its note.
