Hesston Rural Mail Delivery Rig. This type of horse-drawn rig fro mail delivery was used as late as 1920-1925, especially when roads were muddy. Early automobiles were inefficient in mud, and there were no sanded roads. -- Bandy, Murray C., "Hesston Centennial 1886-1896", pg. 35.
