Hesston Official Flag - 1970, L to R: Ruth Schroeder, Lorraine Miller, Mayor Harold Dyck, Bonnie Stovall and Lucille Hochstetler.

April 1970 Hesston chose an official flag. Those desiring a flag invited citizens to submit designs. The design of John Lederach, a college professor, was chosen. Entitled "Together Town-USA," the design showed the city skyline wiht yellow orange, and gold colors. By November 20, 1970, the Hesston Civic Club made a flag and presented it to Mayor Harold Dyck" (Bandy, 115).
